9-13 th March 2026 Miranda House, University of Delhi
Despite the many differences between contemporary Ireland and India, the two countries also share rich, historical affinities.
The conference brings together a broad range of scholars working on Irish-Indian relations to examine the historical, political, economic, or cultural links between the two former colonies. How were these connections forged? How were these connections challenged? How are such connections remembered?
Michelle Boyle’s exploration of intersections between identity and landscape revealed that the engagement between Ireland and India — and the often conflicted sense of identity that could accompany it — surfaced in other modes of creative expression and could shape one’s experience with the natural and spiritual worlds.
Organised by Jill Bender Visiting Ass Professor Keogh Naughton Institute for Irish Studies and Dhiraj Mehra, Director for Initiatives in India University of Notre Dame,
