On Painting- Special Edition: March-April 2022

The 60th special edition with a focus on painting includes Michelle Boyle’s

‘Great Work in Marginal Places’ as part of the VAI members profile. ‘These profiles interrogate subjects as wide ranging as matter and objecthood: the phenomenological, embodied and felt sensations of painting…and the relationship with painting that one maintains throughout their lives .

I call this work The Epilimnion- being inside and also marginal to the lake, to the landscape and to myself: being both an immersed participant and an observer at the same time. A self – portrait of sorts.
